Welcome to AFGE Local 4156 website. Our mission is to give you information about the American Federation of Government Employees herein known as AFGE and your local 4156 that services the Georiga/Florida area. Additionally, to let you know from day one, you are not alone. You are an essential part of this Union and this Local. You are appreciated and we are excited to see you thrive.

In New York, 1768, journeymen tailors took to the streets to strike for better wages. Since that time labor groups protected the right of workers came out of necessity, to protect the rights of children, injured and retired workers and the “common interest of the worker.” Founded in 1932, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) represents an estimated 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers around the world. There are 987 Locals, and 313,000 dues paying members.
